Walking into Charlotte Fashion Seen

First blog! I'm going to try and make this as visually appealing and short as possible but yes, Walked into Is exactly what I did. This photography thing never ceases to amaze me.
The people that you meet.
The places that you go.
The things you see.
I was invited by my friend Anne Hill, Founder and CEO of the We Are SuperMoms Foundation to be her photographer for Charlotte Fashion Seen! She is going to be there speaking about her event and to be perfectly honest, I knew nothing about Charlotte Fashion Seen until she invited me. Of course! But man, I was nowhere near ready for what I was walking into.

SO. MANY. PEOPLE. People all over the place, walking around and so many DOPE styles on people! I'm glad I didn't stick to my usual jeans and Anime Graphic tee. I walk in the main lobby where the show is..So many people.

But at this point, I need to figure out what I need to do. I arrived a little on the late side due to traffic and making the wrong turn..twice, so I'm looking for Anne! Hit her with a text and I move to the front of the room (big light in above pic). Man. All I see is PHOTOGRAPHERS! Whole front row is about 8 Togs posted with their tripod, flashes set up and ready for a show. I've shot in groups before but not like this and for something so big. They are all just sitting so causally, no big deal. Meanwhile, I'm just sitting there like
Time to get in gear. Snatch my 80D and dial up some numbers. Still trying to get the hang of this coming from my T3i, so every shoot since these past 4 or 5 shoots have been a serious "live and learn" moment. I got to get in between these 100 shooters and get a vantage point for myself.
I walked up confused as ever and one of the lady Togs tells me she was only going to be there for a moment and I could get her spot after the first set.
She is in a great spot off to the side. Of course, the great spots are in the middle, accompanied by a Tog wit a great light setup and zoom lenses that could probably shoot the hairs on a caterpillar but my side spot gave me enough visibility to the models, light from the other's setup and no one to stop me.
The show started. The sounds of Taylor Swift's Look What You Made Me starts blaring! I knew the controversy behind this song but for my first time hearing it and the models walking the runway as the intro to this event, this sing was hittin'! And here is what I got. I think I had a great spot. What do you think?

I went to work. I was a little worried as I was shooting about the lighting but I often tend to doubt my editing skills. Nothing a little post White Balance and tugs on the highlights and shadows to bring everything I need. Staying in that spot allowed me to get a full view of everyone to showcase the outfit, as well as the model. All of these pics were shot on a 50mm Canon Lens.
I shot, y'all. I aimed, I clicked and I shot. And after all of the amazing designs I seen, the eclectic music the models walked to and a millions flashes from cameras per second going off...
It was over. Everybody just packed all of their stuff and hightailed it out to beat the impeding traffic steadily rising. For everyone else, the night may have been over but for the photographer, its work to be done. Hopefully.
I follow suite and pack up Ka'Mira (my 80D). I was so excited to do the show, I didn't realize how much I was standing on my feet without stretching. Soon as I got home and touched my couch, it was morning before I knew it.
Today present day, 10/2 ,1:38am, I completed all the pics and you can see them for yourself here on the site...or directly on the Charlotte Fashion Seen Facebook page. I received a text from the CEO of Charlotte Fashion Seen thanking me for the photos and how grateful she was that I was there
No, thank you for having me! And that was my first Charlotte Fashion Seen event. Such an amazing story right? Right, pretty dry but I'm getting into this blog thing so hopefully my future post, I can have a little more content for you! I hope you enjoyed my little journey! Not sure what my next post will be but I am open to suggestions! Stick around though and make sure you follow me on Instagram @tc.pix, explore my site and stay tuned!
